Performance Paradigm Shift
Web2.0 Performance Testing

This is the website of Obbie Pet, a consultant in Software Quality Assurance and Performance Testing.

Please review my resume to see what I have been up to.

In the content below, I offer my insites into a paradigm shift now under way in web performance testing.

Performance paradigm shift:   Changes in web technology have outdated the traditional approach to performance testing.  The pre-production load test is no longer sufficient to verify a production site will stand up to heavy load.  New technologies (Cloud and Web2.0) require pre-production load testing be supplemented with monitoring.  I lay out my reasoning in the “Performance Paradigm Shift” link.

Web2.0 applications:
Web2.0 leverages third party content providers in the construction of web sites.  Performance monitoring is necessary to ensure these third party resources aren’t slowing down your web pages.  I have included an interactive web page with my reasoning: “Web2.0 Performance Testing” to see the details.  Warning:  the presentation is clunky but the content is well thought out.
